Marvellous Music at St. Bridget’s

During the Autumn Term, there was some fabulous singing and music making going on at St. Bridget’s.

In December, the junior choir sang at two different venues: St. Bridget’s Church Centre and West Kirby Methodist Church hall. The children sang a selection of Christmas carols for senior citizens at both venues. The children enjoyed singing...and eating chocolates and mince pies! The senior citizens loved being able to sing along and having the chance to share in the joy of Christmas with children. Thank you to the parents who came along to help walk the children to and from school.

Also in December, we held a ‘Christmas Music Talent Assembly’. Many of our more confident musicians performed a wonderful collection of songs, on a wide range of instruments. It was fantastic for the year three children and parents of the musicians to see how talented they are and how much progress they have made.

Thanks to Mr. Lappin and Miss Johnson, some of our peripatetic music teachers who accompanied some of the children during the assembly. Thanks also to Mr. and Mrs Inglis for playing the Silent Night duet to open the assembly, and to Mr. Inglis for coming to the rescue and tuning the violins for us!
There was beautiful singing of carols by St. Bridget’s children at the Toy Service, the Carol Service and the Christingle Service.

In addition, well done to the Foundation Two and Year 1 children, who sang their hearts out at the Christmas Nativity, with some of the Year 1 children playing Christmas bells too.
The year 4 children have completed their first term playing the ukulele – we look forward to seeing them perform together for the school in the Summer term.

This term will see the annual Spring Concert taking place- where musicians in Key Stage Two show off their wonderful musical skills and entertain the school and their families. The infant choir will be singing at the Deeside Festival and the junior choir will be singing at the Mother’s day Service at St. Bridget’s Church. Dates and details about these events will follow soon.
