Threshold Concepts and Milestones

Our school curriculum is designed using the Essentials framework published by Chris Quigley. Further rationale and research supporting our approach can be found in our Curriculum Intent statement on this website.
 
 
This approach uses 'threshold concepts' for each subject that are visited throughout our children's journey through our school. These concepts are broken down into three 'milestones' that provide progression and challenge throughout each key phase. Each milestone has been carefully designed to fulfil the requirements of the National Curriculum and in some cases provide further depth and learning opportunities. These threshold concepts and milestones provide the framework upon which our staff build learning experiences for our children, using relevant and engaging topics to deliver our curriculum intent to a consistently high standard.
