Year 2

Year 2 Curriculum Overview (Spring Term)

In the spring term, we center our attention on "Our Community." In the first half, our school-wide focus is on social justice. In literacy, we delve into "Lubna and the Pebble" to explore the role of refugees in society. Our art projects concentrate on sculpture, specifically crafting clay houses. Science lessons revolve around materials, while in Geography, we embark on a journey to explore and compare Australia with the U.K.

In the second half term, our theme shifts to STEAM. In literacy, we engage in creative writing inspired by Roald Dahl's "The Twits." For Design and Technology, we draw inspiration from "Twit Mobiles" for our axles and wheels unit. History focuses on the contributions of Amy Johnson, connecting her experiences with those explored earlier in the Autumn term (Mae Jemison and Neil Armstrong).
