Year 6

Year 6 Curriculum Overview (Summer Term)

In Year 6 this term we are excited to be delving deeply into our locality as we link our previous historical study of World War 2 to the significant part the locality of Merseyside  and individuals in Merseyside played in the war effort. Through this focus we will be local historians using a variety of sources to support our investigation into the areas past.

In geography we will focus closely on our local environment considering the issues of coastal erosion and our changing landscape.

As we begin to prepare for transition to secondary school will be using the focus text of Wonder; exploring important themes of inclusivity, diversity and friendship.

In maths and English we will continue to ensure we are capable mathematicians, readers, writers and orators who are ready to embrace the secondary curriculum with confidence.

Our STEM work will continue to include the programming of our Shape Robotics Fable Robots, coding them to navigate an obstacle course, throw a ball and complete a maze puzzle. DT will give us the opportunity to explore food technology.

The Summer term in Year 6 is always special and several exciting experiences await which we will share with you as we finalise details. We can't wait to get started and enjoy our last term together before the Summer.
