Welcome to St Bridget's C of E Primary School
24/11/23
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week children across the school have been busy. Year 5 have been to Calday Grammar to visit the Law department, Year 3 have been swimming each afternoon, there have been class visits to West Kirby library and all of Key Stage Two enjoyed the Anti-bullying theatre group that visited school. Speaking to Year 6 children today it was good to hear how informed they all were about how they would respond in different situations and how they would seek help if they needed to. They were all very knowledgeable and sensible. Today I have asked Year 6 to write to me to apply for Prefect positions – within hours I have already been swamped with applications! This week Year 1 and Year 2 even did some maths with their parents in the school hall. Last week Reception parents were able to visit school and see their children in action as well. Thank you for all of the positive feedback and I am glad you enjoyed the experience. By the end of the year all parents from all classes will have had this opportunity.
Website update
Today we have updated our website. Much of it looks similar and it should be more user friendly, especially when accessing it from a mobile device. There has been a lot of work in the background and I would like to thank Mr Neal for organising most of this. The majority of the work is completed but there will be a few minor tweaks next week. We would welcome feedback on the website and please chat to myself or Mr Neal on the school gate next week.
Feedback from the Parent Questionnaire
We have had some helpful feedback from the questionnaire, but it would be good to receive more responses. So far, parents have positively commented on the fact that they all feel their child is both happy and safe in school. Parents have also commented that the school has high expectations of all children and that you know how to support your child with e-safety.
The link is still active and can be accessed here link. With your help we can look to make further improvements to school. While we cannot address every single comment, we aim to review comments where feedback is similar and can be usefully acted upon.

We did |
Due to staff illness in year 1 the parents meeting was not yet organised. |
The live sign up for this class has now been emailed to all parents in this class. |
Online parents’ meetings have not allowed parents to see books. |
All parents will be able to come into school at the end of term to see books on Tuesday 19th December 3.30pm to 4.30pm |
Covid moved a lot of work online and while there are many benefits to this that are appreciated by parents, it was noted that children have less opportunity to write. |
We are reviewing our policy to identify opportunities to write rather than type for homework. |
While parents appreciate some of the advantages of online parent meetings there were a number of parents that still express a preference for meeting face to face. |
We will review our approach for the Spring Term. |
There are lots of school clubs that cover sports, singing and chess but could we develop a club for art. |
One of my staff is looking to start an art club in the Spring and will send out information before the end of term. |
Next week Friday 1st December - Christmas Hat day
Next week all of the children are invited to wear a funny hat to raise money for Claire House. The idea was inspired by Claire Cain, who would wear funny hats when she was going through chemotherapy to cheer people up. Claire’s outlook on life remains a key value at the charity and Christmas Hat Day is a great way to celebrate Claire and support Claire House!

Attendance
As part of the National drive to improve attendance the Local Authority Attendance Officer now visits me each term. We review all attendance that is under 90% and we review all recent holiday requests. Where attendance is below 90% and not improving school will contact you and invite parents to a meeting. Where attendance continues to decline referrals will be made to the local attendance board. I am always happy to meet with parents and work with you to avoid taking serious steps where possible.
