Year 4

Year 4 Curriculum Overview (Summer Term)

In the Summer Term, we are looking at the Vikings, with regard to their invasion, lifestyle and impact on the Wirral. We are exploring the exciting evidence that surrounds the school. As a part of this, we are working towards the John Muir Award, for the first time, and discovering, exploring, conserving and sharing information about our local area, focusing on the west side of the Wirral. This will include a trip to Thurstaston and a visit from United Utilities. To support our understanding, we are focusing on our local habitats in our Science lessons and learning how to conserve the area for future generations.

Within Art, wax rubbings of our school environment will inspire our reductive print making. While in DT, we will explore a healthy lunch. Music will be led by Musical Minds, who are teaching the children to play the Ukulele and to use their musical skills to become an ensemble.

Our class readers for the term will be Cloud Busting, a powerful story about friends and foes, and Oliver and the Seawigs, which relates to the work we will be doing on our local area.
