Personal Statement

Although originally from London, I have lived in West Kirby for many years and my son attends St Bridget’s Primary School.

I have worked in education for over two decades and have a broad range of experience of life in schools both as a classroom practitioner and school leader. I have enjoyed working in schools in a range of contexts including international schools and have previously served on two governing boards. My last role was as a Deputy Headteacher, Designated Safeguarding Lead and SENDCO in a large Primary School for over 7 years.

I hold the NASENCO award and a Masters in SEND which focused on Mental Health provision in Primary Schools. I currently work as a lecturer for the University of Chester with a specialism in Attachment, Trauma and Mental Health in Education and am involved in several research projects in this area. I also teach on the Undergraduate BA Special Educational Needs and Post Graduate Certificate in Trauma and Attachment in Education.

I continue to work as a Primary School Class teacher around my university commitments as I feel it is important to keep my skills and knowledge up to date.

I am delighted to be a member of the St Bridget’s governing board and hope to put my skills to good use in supporting the school.
